I would like to leave the traihead no later than 1:00 pm in order to make it to the campsite before dark. I am old and slow. The trail is easy to follow so if you have to arrive later you would have no problem following. The intended Friday night camp is about 5 miles. There is a tough climb the last 1/2 to 3/4 mile of the Chinnabee. The first 2 miles of the Pinhoti is moderate with the last mile to camp being easy. I like doing this loop in a clockwise direction in order to have the Saturday night camp by the Cheaha creek with rapids and falls.

Hedcase of course there is room. As you know there is no shortage of trees. And winter is a great time to do this loop. No bugs, no snakes, no people, no heat and humidity, and some nice views. The Skyway gets little traffic and I can see how it would be over grown in summer.

Sounds great, I talked about doing this loop a while back but never found time. Looks like I might be able to go. I live in Prattville so I'm guessing about a 2 hour drive to the trail head. (correct me if I am wrong, I've never been there) Look forward to meeting everyone.

I think it is more like 2.5+ hours from Prattville. Of course it depends on the route. I have a friend in Prattville that meets us at Adams Gap for trail maintence and she takes hwy 9.

Sorry to hear that Bret. Maybe we'll have another Sipsey hangout soon. Take care. Catch the next time.

I'm contemplating joining in this hike. What's the best way to get there coming from the south?
