This kind of opens up a lot of new areas for us bike tourers. There's probably fewer ticks in those spots. However, the police could be a problem.

Is that a spreader bar underneath? That is neat.

It gives the phrase "urban jungle" a new twist.

Did you see someone laying in the hammock?

I've always heard the saying, " I guess he/she fell out of the stupid tree and hit every branch on the way down.". I never knew the stupid tree actually existed.

My attention was drawn to the tree seeing the guy who put it up there scramble down. I waited a while to see if he was going to climb in, but he didn't. I wasn't about to ask him to climb in just for a photo. Particularly as I don't know how good he is with his knots!

My sister-in-law is an awful driver, with the added curse of living in an area with enchanted trees. Seems they leap in front of her car....

    hang 'em high

There are people living in the trees!?!?!?!?
    What are they protesting; dirt?

I think they're trying to protect the trees...they're probably hippies
They're trying to keep loggers from cutting the trees down. They go up in old-growth forests in Oregon national forests as well as the redwoods. Loggers will not fall the tree if there's a neo-hippy protester up in it. They often build platforms way up in the tree and stay up there for weeks, even months. Maybe some of them use hammocks?

A co-worker who served in the US Army in combat in Vietnam said they used to hang their hammocks way up in trees many feet up in the forest canopy. Presumably to hide from the VC and NVA. I'll have to ask him about the details.
