I've been preaching all along that an air pad in the RR is heavenly!

We have been in RRs for several years and are very happy with them.
Weight is the biggest factor but you can work to get the weight down and compensate elsewhere.
Ironically, the Lynx UQs weigh much less than the gathered end quilts due to their smaller size, so that helps.
The suspension (Dutchware) and poles (Carbon fiber from http://www.rutalocura.com/products.html) can be replaced with much lighter components as well.

The RR provides great back support. Try a pillow behind your knees for additional support. This works for me in a GE and Bridge as well.

I have a big 27" wide 2lb Exped that I love (except for the weight) and i have a lighter weight smaller Kylmit that works good too. The Exped has a 5.9 R-Value so it's exclusively for colder weather. The Klymit is comfortable in the RR because my shoulders reach the edge of it and kind of drape over the edge of it slightly and reaches a drop off point so to speak thereby reducing shoulder squeeze that I otherwise experience in the RR.
