I'm very sorry to hear of your underquilt's incineration.

    Hi, Dr. SM.
I use the rubber bands in winter, and two slightly longer chunks of shock cord, like you suggested, to vent in warmer temps.
    Works great.

ps.... please share some pics of your new setup with the winter dream tarp??
    Thanks. Ted

    Thanks for the info!

I'll try to get some pics in the near future. I'm taking off to Philmont tomorrow ( not a trek unfortunately, going to the training center) and not taking the hammock set up.

I believe the black rubber bands might also be referenced as Ranger Bands?
I use small budgies on the 0 full Lynx because the stock bands froze on me several years ago and lost their elasticity. The bungees have not yet let me down at 0 or below.
We cut off the straps of my son's 3/4 - 20 Lynx and replaced the straps with 40 lb dynema fishing leader and the small bungees to save weight.
I have the 20 3/4 Lynx as well and have not yet altered the bands. I might leave the foot bands and replace the head with bungee.
A bungee with a taught line hitch at each head could be used to vent from within the hammock if needed.
