Chameleon Hammock set up on ground>>>>

Needed to see if Chameleon would set up on ground and not have netting on face. Using the pullouts to spread it worked well and I used a small biner to wrap the ridgeline 8 wraps to get it up even further off face. Using gear I already have to insulate and pad my body. Pad from pack, thermarest sit pad, laying on UQ in hammock. Under hammock is Packa rain jacket, ULA rain kilt, small plastic I always carry.
Hammock sits on ground...poles hold the ends up.
Not to bad. Doable. Plenty of face space. Easy to zip in.
Have a trip coming and the possibility exsists of maybe having to take one for the team and go to ground. Best to practice getting ready.
Using my DIY Blackcrow tarp. 11' ridgeline and 6 feet across.

Not out West but just with some others and not 100% sure if we will all be able to hang. More than likely will but it is good to prepare. Good to know you can. Bit of tweaking to get it right.

Not bad at all, I've seen tarp / bivy setups with less room. This has been on my mind as well lately given that the ridge runner is setup so well for it. How comfy was the make shift padding? Do you think you'd sleep alright?

I think so. Could borrow pack pad or two from the others if they hang and I take one for the team and ground it. Also may find some good duff to lie on. I'll be tired enough to sleep. Also will take some Advil PM to get me dozy.
