DIY Hammock for a hefty hanger

I already have what I believe to be a good hammock that has had no problem holding my wieght. But I was thinking about making one. What is the highest wieght limit that someone has DIY'ed. I am 330lbs and am always worried about falling thru in the middle of the night. The hammock bliss triple I have is very sturdy but I was thinking about adding a layer of material for support. Also was thinking that I could put a pad or UQ in there. Any suggestion?

A double layer 1.9 (70d) ripstop hammock would support #330 no problem.

I would recommend for the ends either the Speer knot, Warbonnet bunch, or a double sheet bend (whip the loose end to the hammock body behind the sheet bend). I just personally feel those are stronger suspension systems than the sewn-channel type for DIY.

colgan, I'm 330 or there abouts. Ive done single and doubles...not one failure yet. As far as what fabric?? Your choices are endless. Ive done single layer cotton (think bed sheet), and it held. Double layer for safeties sake is what I would recomend.

I get into walmart every now and then and loot their fabric bins to see what I can find. Get your self some wide fabric, and it shouldn't have any stretch, or minimal stretch.
Wider is better, especially for bigger guys, 46" or wider. If you can find 60" wide grab 10 feet (20 ft. for double layer) of it and make yourself a real nice hammock.
