Alternative to buying peak shelf or storage pocket using gear I already had

On first outing with my Chameleon, I immediately wished I had a peak shelf or storage pocket to hold my keys, phone and glasses.

On my second outing I realized I was already carrying what I need for a simple alternative: I put my stuff in a my sleeping bags compression sack, which was empty while the sleeping bag was spread out. Then I simply clipped the bag to one of the Chameleon's small tieouts above my feet using a spare carabiner. Problem solved!

I also found I could use a small strap cinched tight around my phone to squeeze up on the ridge light. I had already been carrying the small strap to secure my sleeping pad in transit.

Great idea. I have also used what looks like some sort of golf thing. It has a golf manufacturers logo on it and its a zippered pouch that has a snap swivel on it. Clips to ridge line and perfect for phone and small stuff. I'm not sure what the golf use for it is but guessing its something you clip to the bag to hold stuff....

Those little bags usually store golf tees and divot tool, hung on the outside of the golf bag.
Yes, my pack weighs 70lbs, but it's all light weight gear....

Clever solutions -- although the peak shelves (I run two!) are my favorite thing about the Chameleon! I did find that a DIY version of the storage pocket was very easy to make.
