Greetings everyone!! 39 years old and trying to get into the backpacking, kayaking, camping, hanging scene

Have car camped for some time, but trying to turn the corner to backpacking. Have been reading and researching and currently am considering a HH Explorer. I am 6'0" and 220 lbs. so need something a bit beefy. Hoping to learn a thing or two from these forums as I head down this road!!

Welcome to the forum from SE WI. As you read through the threads, be sure to post more questions if you can't find the exact info you need. I did a ton of reading last fall and then went whole hog and acquired a Warbonnet Blackbird XLC with winter top and bug net. I'm about your same weight and find it very comfy. I'm sure "Karla with a K" will find your post and invite you to a number of WI hangs. She has them listed in each posting she makes so I'll just simply say, "hope to meet you some day."

Welcome aboard SnyperX. I grew up an hour south of Madison, 12 miles north of the Illinois line. Stuck in Indiana now, but still a Packers fan. GO PACK!

Welcome! I am also a cheese head but live in Minnesota now. Plenty of great Backpacking in these parts. Check out the SHT, you'll love it! www.shta.org
