Actually, no... Here are construction notes for the shells of some of the DIY top quilts I have made:

1.55 oz Multicam Epsilon outer, 0.9 oz Argon 90 inner (multiple quilts)
1.55 oz Multicam Epsilon outer, 1.1 oz ripstop nylon inner (multiple quilts)
1.1 oz ripstop nylon outer, 0.9 oz Argon 90 inner
0.9 oz Argon 90 both shells (multiple quilts)
0.9 oz MEMBRANE 15 poly taffeta outer, 1.1 oz ripstop nylon inner (multiple quilts)

So I typically use a heavier fabric for the outer shell, but I am very seldom likely to use a fabric lighter than 0.9 oz on the inner layer of a top quilt; both choices reflect my priorities of durability and trailworthiness over gram-shaving.
