As an old meteorologist/climatologist this is indeed a bit of sad news to let the whole world know (those of us in the weather world weren't doing anything to draw attention to the record). The "Big Wind" will still and always be the "Big Wind" no matter what! If you attempt a hike to the top of MT. Washington and to the weather observatory that is there...you had better be prepared....it doesn't make a difference what time of the year either.
Well, the Ausies got "The Cup" for awhile and now they have the wind record.....still doesn't change anything, except for who's holding what at the moment.

Remember..."Speed is Life"....right OG?

PS Have you ever seen a Mylar sail blow out in a strong gust of wind...not pretty...but everybody thought it was cool when it happened, except for that boat's crew, or the guy in the sail locker.
