It's hard to explain. I could get my wife to take a picture of me doing it, but she finds it too cold to even photograph a hammock lately.
.. truly to enjoy bodily warmth, some small part of you must be cold, for there is no quality in this world that is not what it is merely by contrast. Nothing exists in itself. If you flatter yourself that you are all over comfortable, and have been so a long time, then you cannot be said to be comfortable any more. - Herman Melville

more details on the BMB carbon fiber spreaders, please!

I'm wondering if the carbon fiber spreader poles stick at all when trying to pull them apart. They look very similar to cf kayak paddles... and I have had awful experiences trying to pull those apart. Takes near super human strength (which sadly, I lack). Of course, who knows? Maybe I am just a very inexperienced kayaker and it's not the carbon fiber paddles - it's me!

Would love to hear some feedback from Medicine Man on how they have worked out... it's a pretty tempting weight reduction.

Have you tried the old trick where you put the paddle behind your knees, grasp firmly with your hands and spread your knees apart using the leverage against the arms?

Ha. I've tried everything. It takes two people to get these ones apart!

Allright.. So far Ive gotten the weight of just the BMBH, stuff sack and suspension down to 1pound 4.8 ounces.

For now I left the rings on, but made up for it a little by using Dynaglide as the cord. I made 4 whoopies going from the corners up to the center ring.

Im waiting on the rope thimbles I ordered. I should be able to replace the corner rings with those. Hopefully they are lighter... If not, Ill have to find something smaller.

No, Just the hammock, sack and suspension. I should also add thats not with any suspension from the ring to your attachment points. I think here a simple eye to eye sling would work... OR a cinch buckle.

Unmodified mine weighs 700 grams. Includes sack, suspension and Tri Glides.

That is 1 lb 8.64 ounces.

So far a savings of 3.84 ounces or 109 grams!

    Well done!

I wonder how accurate my scale is..... I got a weight of 1 pound 10 ounces for the hammock, webbing, rings and sack.

All the webbing off mine came to 6 ounces and the 4 DG whoopies came to .7 ounces. I still need to add another length of cord to atachment. But I think with my stand I have enough adjustment in the whoopies to get the ring up to my eye bolt.
