I just got mine so I can not speak to durability. It is made out of 70D parachute nylon which a lot of hammocks are made of so it should be fine in my opinion.

I've slept in mine half a dozen times. Have had no durability issues. It seems well made. I switched my suspension to whoopies and gave the cinch buckles to my girlfriend to use because they are so freaking simple. She loves them.

If you are near a Sam's Club, I saw eno double nests with Atlas Straps for under $60 today.

I'm completely new to all of this -- but I'm taking the journey DannyII is laying out. (I talked to a guy yesterday about buying a 6year old sewing machine. what the heck?)
My hammock is DIY from a couple of $9 table cloths and the fabric for the bug net and tarp are laying on the floor as I write.

    Best of luck,

    Charlie

$22.75 - a great 11' (or, whatever length you want, up to just shy of 12') Hexon hammock, a shade more $ for the wide version, which I would recommend if you are 6' tall or more from MakeYourGear.com/Dutchware.com http://www.makeyourgear.com/kits-and...s-hammock-kit/

@ $25 - Asym tarp kit from Dutchware - order 4 yds Xenon wide (on sale now for just $5/yd) and 1/2 yard of 300D pack, $1 worth of beastee D's and $2 worth of grosgrain, spool of thread to match = tarp.

@$21 of noseeum mesh = Fronkey bug net.

Straps - $3-5 depending on sale prices at Harbor Freight for their lashing straps and hacksaw off the metal part. https://www.harborfreight.com/set-of...7386.htmlLearn the super simple Becket hitch, and done for suspension.

So, for around $70 you have everything but insulation covered!

For some odd reason, some things are less expensive/unavailable on the Dutchware site vs the Makeyourgear site, and vice versa. Check both, and order accordingly, or just call them to order it all at once.
+1 DIY is the way to go.

If your budget is a hard $50, the Outpost hammock from Wildhorn Outfitters is within your budget. And it includes a decent cinch buckle suspension.

Bought a double size Chillax hammock at Costco last week for $14.97, not shown as being available on line. The 97 cents shows that was a closeout price. The hammock is very similar to a ENO double, with the two seams for a three piece body. The tree straps are not straps, just rope. You can go in Costco and look, regardless of whether you are a member or not. Maybe you can purchase by paying some extra percentage more than the members' prices. You will need to recognize the stuff sack since there was no display sign, just manufacturer's tags on each sack.

It's a little over 50 bucks (59) but here is another option.
