    What Am I Forgetting?

I feel like a kid on Christmas Eve. Got the email that my Blackbird 1.1 DBL XLC is on it's way! I got tree straps, and purchased the winter topcover with it (why not?).

    Right now I already have:
    • WB Superfly
    • 2 each Dutch Stingerz on Lash-It for the tarp
    • 4 each Dutch Hook Wormz w/ shock cord and Reflect_it for the tie-outs
    • 25' of 3/32 in shock cord
    • 4 Dutch Fleaz (impulse buy just in case ??)
    • more LW & UL stakes than 1 person needs (Easton, MSR Groundhogs, Ti shepherd hooks. MSR Carbon Core...)
    • 550# paracord for drip lines
    • 2'x2' of Tyvek to stand on
    • small gear hook & organizer for the ridgeline

    On the way:
    • WBBB
    • UGQ 30 degree Zeppelin

I already have my 20/40 deg sleeping bags and pads (for right now).

I know I need something to be able to close the doors to the Superfly off with, that's why I got the shock cord. I'm thinking maybe mitten hooks? Small carabiners?

    What else am I forgetting?

Put small loops of bungee and all your tarp tieout points (except the ridgeline). Then attach the lines permanently to your stakes with an adjustable hook (such as the hook worm) which hooks onto the bungee loops. Then you can easily detach the tarp without taking out the stakes. Works excellent for doors. And if you want to flip half the tarp over for a view of the sky it's easy to put back in place with the stakes already set and lines adjusted to length.

I bought a Kam Snap tool. Works great for that and a lot of other things. UGQ uses snaps on some of their tarps.

I don't have much use for shock cord. It doesn't perform well in deep cold, so I banished it from my kit!

May have missed it in the list but didn't see carabiners. Might want a couple (or Dutch clips) for your straps to make it easier to get on and off the tree.

+1 from me. I do the same and it is slick. Just unhook the worm from the bungee and drop it on the ground. You'll see the line if you use a bright color and reflective is best for night and the worm is tied on so it won't get lost. The only time you'll unhook the worm is the initial adjustment. Then it is super easy to hook or unhook as needed.

One more benefit is the line ALWAYS stays connected to the stake so no losing stakes.

Yup, that's why I bought the Hookworms with shock cord. Saw a couple videos on self-tensioning tie outs and thought it was a good idea.
