    Quick trip to Eastern Washington

I spent Saturday doodling around the mountains of Eastern Washington and brought my hammock along to eat lunch from and take a power nap.

Rode my motorcycle to save the truck from taking a beating on the rough roads. Found a beautiful look out with a view of Mt Rainier. A little higher up (around 6100ft) I found some late sierran puffballs. Brought them home for the wife to cook and eat, they look like tofu inside when still ok to eat.

The trees were a little farther apart than I like. I tried to push the straps up with a stick but they kept skipping back down when not under tension.

Beautiful! I've never seen the puffballs before; they are quite a sight just by themselves. +1 point for using a motorcycle

    Looking good over there.

And +1 to everything CT said; I forage wild edibles practically daily for most of the year, but I don't trust myself with fungi...

Great pics! The huckleberries are starting to come on over here, it's time to get out and pick.

Since you could still see Rainier, I assume your Eastern Washington is just on the east side of the Cascades.

Correct. Clover Springs near Bumping Lake.

Chanterelles are plentiful in the Olympics and easy to ID, but it's best to have someone show you in person. Any question at all and it's better just to hit Safeway on the trip home.
