I think having all nonscouters take the youth protection online class wouldn't hurt. That way everyone is understanding of the rules. I've been Cubmaster the past two years and now will be the weblo leader for a couple. If I'm free the weekend you do this I'd be glad to help.

Not a bad idea. It's 20 min online.

When you do the adult protection program online is their something that you can print out at the end? If so, you could require all registered participants to bring that to the event when they arrive, Or maybe you could so a mass showing at a set time to get everyone at once?

I believe you get a certificate of completion at the end.

If I am available I would be willing. Don't know if all have to take YP. Did see you didn't need to create an account on the BSA sight. That is a plus if you go that route. I would make sure the kids know to be two deep wherever they go around adults.

Good job, Jason. I love this idea.

I could have them carry me to my seat around the premade fire and serve me a pulled pork samich.

This is a very good idea and I wouldn't mind it at all. I have volunteered as a Youth Soccer Coach at our YMCA for 10+ years (until this year). My kids would also benefit from being around other like minded kids.
Enjoy and have fun with your family, before they have fun without you

BSA has stringent requirements even including background checks for those volunteering with scouts. The ONF will also require a special use permit with restrictions. Bear safety is a big issue right now also. I hate to be a killjoy, but in spite of how good the idea sounds, it may not be doable.

I love the idea but, I agree that with the BSA there is no wiggle room on camp-outs. They will not cover you if there is an issue, you have to have separate camp sites for adults ,cub scouts and scouts. I know we had a couple of troops at HangCon16, but they had a separate area off site to camp at. And they had limited access to the main area.
But what if you turn this into a scout event. And invite other troops to attend. (Not to put out the fine folks here on the forum.) But I am sure there are a lot of us that are active in scouting and have troops doing more and more Hammock camping. That would love an event like this. And maybe invite some guest presenters which they could stay off site in an adult area? I would love to help out on something like that.

That is a good idea. The site has a max of 50. Our troop does not want to pay the expense of the site on our own just for a campout. With only a dozen showing up we usually stay at hidden pond for free.

And at Hidden Pond, there are areas to separate them. There could be just scouts in the 2nd or 3rd clearing(depending on how many troops) and the adults can spread out in the 2nd clearing(if no troops), pine barrens, the point, around the common area, etc.
