I have the HH with the #2 Zipper Mod, I'm glad I had it done and wouldn't like it any other way now. Having said that, I also have a 1.7/1.1 Custom BB and a Double Layer 1.1 BB that I've had for over a year now. Haven't slept in the HH since. Now, let me qualify that by saying that I haven't been able to get out a whole lot over the past year and I might try Doug the Elder's suggestion of using the modded HH during the summer. But then again...maybe not.

My initial inclination was to hit the WBBB button. I had a HH, hated the bottom entry, sold it and got a WBBB. Love it.

BUT....you might also consider the Switchback . It doesn't have the following of the WBBB, yet... but I kinda dig on the double sided entry.

the explorer lists a user length of over 6'. that is a bit vague, does that mean 6'3" or 6'11", i don't know, you probably have an idea though since you own one. in comparison, the bb should be fine for someone up to 6'6". this is due to the location of the tie-outs more so than the fabric length. fabric length plays a role too of course, but a 10' no-net should work for someone up to 6'6", and the bb is the same way. at 6'2" you'd have head/foot room to spare

Wow, when did the BB get a 375lbs weight limit?

Of course I sleep in a hammock!

    Exclamation Dude!

Just take a look at your Poll, that should answer your question...

I have 3 different HH's with two having the 2Q mod...My go to is of course is my BB 1.7
I am not a hiker yet so weight is not a matter to me.
I did way too much hiking in the military for 20+ years so hiking is not my favorite sport....

90% of the folks can't be wrong. But everything I have ever heard about the zipper mod has been positive so I am sure--like allot of others here as well that you would not be dissatisfied with that option either. But the BB is just so comfy.

the double 1.7 holds quit a bit, that's probably a conservative rating. a haab style hammock is often rated to 400, and 2 layers of 1.7 are heavier than the haab fabric.

    Thanks, everybody!

It looks like I'm going to be joining the Blackbird bunch.

Once the HH isn't my only option for a hammock, I'll either do a simple repair to the HH bugnet, cut it off, or take a stab at a DIY zipper mod.

If I lived in the US, or the HH was newer then it would have already been in the mail to 2Q & ZQ.

Warbonnetguy, start looking for an order in the next few days once I explain to my wife why I need another hammock. Do you think she'll buy that bowed to peer pressure.

just explain that you're only replacing a worn out item. when a old car breaks down you gotta replace it with a new one. this is no different.
