A classic "can't afford not to" situation

And speaking of Amazon:

Amazon (AMZN, Tech30)'s stock fell 3% in after hours trading Thursday as the company reported a June quarter profit that fell well below Wall Street estimates.

Amazon posted a profit of $197 million for the quarter, a massive 77% drop from the $857 million profit it reported in the same period a year earlier.

Ouch!

In my state during the spring, Amazon started charging state sales tax, adding the tax when you check out. Since then, I know that I have not ordered much from Amazon. I find that I will now google the items I am interested in, and shop on price. Amazon was not really a price leader, but with free shipping through Prime, it was comparable to a lot of internet vendors so I did not mind.

I would love to see sales stats for my state and other states where the sales tax is being collected.

Same here....I compare prices more thoroughly now that we have to pay the tax. It's not just the money either, it's the principle ...I hate taxes.

Many sites offer free shipping with minimum purchase anyway so finding what I need elsewhere is not that tough.

Yeah Indiana never had the tax until they built some warehouses here ("a physical presence") years ago. I've gotten used to it. Luckily I can still buy some other sellers thru amazon without any tax.

tax guru: insert comment here about how everyone should be paying taxes for online purchases either way by reporting that them to their state tax agency. Yeah yeah I'm sure everyone does

Mine arrived today. Very nice tarp indeed! Not ultralight, but quality nonetheless. It's hard to understand just how large this thing is until you see it in person. I look forward to trying it out in winter.

Is it seamed sealed?

I have the older version(?) bought earlier this year (tanish color) and it is seam sealed (tape). Just wondered if this model is as well?
