Look very similar to the CCF (Closed Cell Foam) pads available in Walmart's camping section. They work well. I've used a similar pad down to about freezing.

this one seemed to be a more "spongy" version of the CCF. also, my walmart only carried 20" wide ccf pads, not this 24" baby

It puts the Underquilt on it's hammock ... It does this whenever it gets cold
