    Descending Rings.

I want to attach a pice of cord to the end of my hammock through my sown channel and put to decenting rings or ring buckles (same thing right), then could i make a garda hitch in the rings with webbing and tie that to the tree or use a beaner? thanks Jesse

Rings or ring buckles sure still have their place .

I would advise you to look up whoopie slings in the search box its easy to make yourself once the concept is clear.More versatile and far easier to adjust and I think give a better hang .

So to summarise webbing around the tree to a strong but lightweight carabiner then to a toggle look that up also in onto your whoopie secured to the end of your hammock or inserted into the end channel.

What you are describing is exactly how my Skeeter Beeter is configured

The webbing wraps around the tree and is fastened with a biner for easy removal. The running end threads through the rings and then I tie it off in a slippery hitch to keep it from sliding.

I've made some whoopie slings to try out but so far I've not had the chance. There are many ways to attached the slings if you decide to go that route. Thru the pocket with a dead eye, larks had it around the gathered end, you could even loop it over the rings so you have dual suspension options,...

Go to arrowheadequipment.com and look in the store for the hammock suspension section. He has everything that you need to change out the suspension on your hammock.

I'd be leery of those welded rings. A few here have used them with success but I dunno....

Someone...I forget who...just had a ring pop at the weld. The other ring held and the webbing got hung up in the shard so it didn't just collapse...It failed nonetheless.
    Beware of the weld.

Yep, have heard a couple of horror stories related to the welded rings... and they're much heavier to boot.
I bought my SMC rings here...http://www.summithut.com/products/descending-ring/
