I think it depends on how you carve up the body...

You might keep an eye on Target and Walmart to see when they put Sterlite containers on sale.

I have some 56 Qt ones I use; they stack nicely and fit well in a bedroom closet.

I like that idea. I've started taking pictures of everything, including the stacks of boxes, and store the pics on the PC. I can browse the pics fairly quickly.

Yup. Pile it here, pile it there...somehow it all works out. I almost never sell stuff...mebee I should rethink that.

... or you use Randy's method. Put it all in a trailer then no worries about finding it. When you go out, everything is with you.

And when she kicks him to the curb, he's already packed!

I rotate my gear between my closet and my storage unit. Winter items (except under quilts and sleeping bags) are now in my closet. All other items are in my storage unit. My back pack is partially packed until the night before I head out where I go over my checklist to make sure I have everything. So far it's worked out. Anything I dont use or have gotten a replacement for has either been sold or sitting in my storage to be used as loaners to my friends who want to go on overnight treks with me.

I've got a mess that occasionally can be confined to the closet it is actually suppose to live in.
As long as I actually put it away (on shelves in various sized clear plastic tubs with contents written on the side) and Don't Go Camping/Hiking/Backpacking/Outside/Make More Stuff/Decide to Weigh it All/?? everything is nice and tidy.

    However ....
    there's
a pile of stuff that needs to be put away neatly stacked on the end of my sewing table.
a rubbermaid tote in the hallway with the stuff I just got done weighing that will go on my March trip (yeah, I'm a bit excited about that)
some stuff that mysteriously wandered into the guest bedroom (mostly quilts and bags).
and a pack or two in the guest room.
a pack in the corner of my sewing room
a mound of assorted stuff sacks and containers in a different corner of my sewing room
my desk in front of the computer is piled with hiking guides and magazines and a pair of work gloves, various markers, scissors, a ruler ...

    what eay said...PLUS the garage.

In addition to regular camping/hiking/backpacking/hammocking/kayaking/RVing (Aliner Classic) stuff, there's sewing/scrapbooking/quilting/beading stuff. Oh, and books everywhere.

Fortunately, I live alone as the bedroom is crowded as well.

In my next life I'm going to be skinny and organized...

BTW, ikemouser said << keep my quilts in garbage bags packed loose and hang them from hooks>> I think these items should be in breathable mesh or cotton bags. some of the dollar stores carry large mesh "laundry" bags.
