    First Hang in my Expedition

    IMG_1436[1].jpgIMG_1435[1].jpg

Had my first overnight hang in my Expedition and it was great! It got down to about 60 overnight and was a tad chilly in the morning but I did not bring the double bubble pad with. Over all it was a great night and cant wait for more!

I have the same hammock. Didn't use the bubble pad on our first trip out (June), but needed them last weekend as temps got down to 53. Didn't have condensation on the pad & was happy about that. We used Snugpak Jungle Blankets along with the bubble pads and we stayed warm. I know 53 isn't super chilly, but we were happy with our results.

    Happy Hammocking!

Good to know. I will be out this weekend and plan on bringing the bubble pad. Overnight temps are suppose to be in the low 50's so it will be a good test for the pad.

I was not a fan of the bubble pad and think I wasted my money. I crawled into my hammock about 11pm and at 2am I just couldn't take it any longer and got my air pad out and used that the rest of the night. After the switch I slept just fine. I am willing to try it again but just not sure how to keep the thing under me.

Was the air pad in the hammock or did you go to ground or what exactly.I gave up on pads because I just couldn't stay on them but I can see where it would be advantageous at times to have one.

I put the air pad in my hammock. The bubble pad kept bunching up and was just not comfortable. I had used the air pad before while lounging in the back yard and somewhat familiar with it. For me, the air pad was very comfortable and I will use it again in the future. I think I am also going to try my hand at a DIY PLUQ. I have heard good things about the Hennessey Super Shelter but think I will go the more economic route first.

I don't have any trouble staying on the pad. If I move off of it, I wake up chilly, so I find it and scoot over a bit until I'm right back on it again. I have a L, but I know my husband would definitely need an XL pad. Do you have the XL size?

We went hammocking again last weekend. First night it said low was 52, but it got down to 39 degrees! I was freezing--even with the bubble pad and snugpak jungle blanket and a down jacket. The next night was 46, and I was snug as a bug. Crazy how 7 degrees makes such a huge difference. I really want an UQ or super shelter!
