I use el wire 15' is long enough to do one side of a tarp, and of course a head lamp. El wire comes in many colors and should be under 15 bucks for 5meters, you can have it custom sized. It looks awesome I had it on my set up at this years TN hootenanny hang, (there may be some pics floating around out there) it is pretty bright. Laser wire is the brightest on the market but it is still around $200 or so bucks to do a setup.

Picked up a few of these at Meier's. Nice little light. High/low with a soft spot type flashlight or even more diffuse area setting. Tested this weekend, not bad.

These are the ones I am currently using. I like the built in clip, makes it easy to move around for multiple purposes. Not as 'cool' looking as a string of lights, but more practical.

With the size of the Niteize I leave it on my ridgeline even when I pack the hammock away. It is always there, set and forget.

I think the rope lights look bulky and a pain to carry around.

I never tried any but started looking around online; they certainly add a nice touch. I was even told about some new smaller versions running on coin cell batteries that I didn't know about. I would reference some nice options we've talked about in the past, but according to esmith, I'm "out of control" and "constantly spreading vitriol" by doing so. So unfortunately I'll leave it at that.

Same here. It stays on my ridgeline all of the time.

That's exactly what I use. I keep one clipped to a pocket zipper on my coat as well. Perfect night light.

I bought mine at Lee Valley Tools http://www.leevalley.com/en/gifts/pa...cat=53210&ap=7

It depends on the activity. For car camping or group hangs, I have a set of amazon color-changing "fairy lights" that are decorative, light up really well, and run off of 3 AA batteries. They cost me $18 and can change 16 colors with 4 different strobe modes. For backpacking, I just use my headlamp on my ridgeline. For both setups, I've got a little Niteize Moonlight clipped on to my ridgeline to read by.
