Portola Redwoods State Park - La Honda, CA - My first night out!

Had a great first time out this past weekend, thought I'd make one of my first posts here about the trip. I'm located right around Palo Alto, CA and made my way out to the hiker/biker sites at Portola Redwoods SP. After taking a shamefully long time to bike up Page Mill Rd I got there to have the place to myself (the main campground however was full). Probably upper 80's in the shade but a great upper 60's low 70's once the sun went down. The hiker/biker sites are first come first serve and pretty under utilized, so said the ranger I chatted with. I'm pretty sure my site was the only one of the 5 that were really suited to a hammock, I'll be taking another look soon enough. Cheers!

Glad you had a nice time on your first outing and had the place pretty much to yourself to enjoy the night. I too liked the bottle Lantern idea.
