Best ways to Make a DIY Hammock Net

After searching the forums and stickies, I can find an extensive explanation ways to thread inject no-see-um netting to a DIY hammock. I'm looking for a basic patterns that I can use for my 12 foot hammock (I know I'll have to modify for the size). Any help would be appreciated.

What kind of hammock does it mimic: Speer, HH, WBBB, etc.?
I would imagine if all else fail you can simply drape the fabric of it and then cut it to match where it lies on the hammock. From there just determine how you want to attach it to your hammock. you can go with velcro, zippers, or straight sewing it to it. Or any combination.

If I read this right, it sounds like you want a bugnet that encloses the hammock, rather than sewing one on permanently.

Just Jeff has a section dealing with this, as well as a description for making a hammock sock. Just use no-see-um instead of ripstop.

This looks like a real nice one, made by Coffee.

Trout, I can tell you what I did..build hammock, set it up, tie on ridgeline at comfort level (where you like it), lay some pillows and blankets, etc. in hammock to mimmick your body, drape netting over ridgeline, pin netting to hammock, trim excess and sew.

Individually built diy hammocks will need custom netting, thats the nature of the beast! Especially at 12 feet long yours will be totally custom.
Leave room for zipper for entry, or make a big sock of netting to envelope the whole hammock. good luck.

    and we need pics

What do most people do that make DIY hammocks use - sock or attached?

My hammock is just a very long rectangle.

Thanks for the links - I have some things to think on now.

I'm fairly sure that Scott Littlefield (who makes Backwoods Daydream Tarps) posted pictures of his. No zipper, but had pockets along the bottom that you can weigh down with stuff. I was going to try that.

    It's in this section somewhere.

I did the pockets along the bottom that you can weigh down with stuff thing. But I used chiffon (wedding veil fabric). It's cheaper and less stifling than No Seeum fabric. Sprayed it with Permethrin and no bug problem at all.
I THOUGHT GETTING OLDER WOULD TAKE MUCH LONGER.

    Pattern, who uses those?

I just measured the length I needed long ways and down from the ridgeline past my insulation. Added a foot to the height, then made a third section for the bottom to add some width when it was on the hammock. The third section is the key.

Don't be afraid to make it a little big. I made one that turned out really small. Then made the second one that I still use.

    Pics in my gallery.
