Lumber River State Park in NC

Anyone ever camped there? I am just curious how it went for them. I have never even been there, but I have been by there. I think it would be a pretty place since it's not too far from the house but is definitely off the beaten path. I never hear alot of people talk about it either. Pictures would be a plus! I see they have 22 campsites so someone must be going there.

Please share if you have any info.

I have never been there, but it sounds like fun. There are so many State Parks that I'm just now hearing about, and new ones opening all the time it seems.

Lets hang there sometime. Im seriously going to scout it out as soon as it warms up a bit.

Oh yeah, I meant to tell you that after finally meeting you, you were alot different than I had you pictured. I had seen your picture here before, but you are different in person. I mean all this in a good way of course!

I looked into it a while back, but never made down there. I'll be interested to hear what you think after you check it out.
For some reason, I can't help but think that it might be one of those places you might want to avoid in the heat of summer though.
I too will something make and joy in it's making

Looks like a nice place to hang.
I've been wanting to do a canoe trip so bad, that I cant stand it.(you know, the kind that you paddle till you find a nice spot) This place seems to have some canoe access, so obviously, that is a plus.
Anyway, I think we could definitely do this once it warms up. I am really looking forward to a new hang, and I'm thinking we could probably carpool, since it is a nice little stretch. I'm pretty sure I can fit two more hangers in my car. Either way, let me know when you want to do this, and we'll do it.

    .
I hadn't even thought of this place and now I need to go check it out
Looks like it would work pretty good for a 3 day (weekend) canoe trip!!! I'm gonna pitch it to my scouts tonight (Monday meetings) and see if they're interested. If so, we'd probably have to do this around Aug because of all our other months are planned but you still need to do this when the water is warm.
That spot on the river where it says the water runs in reverse of what it should, sounds interesting!!

I didn't see much in the way of hiking trails....

summer heat is pretty bad if your backpacking around here. But it's kind of nice if your in a canoe and on the water!!! Every break you take, you go swimming!!! I've also found that when you set up camp right on (well really you're right next to) the river, that it cools down during the night.

Good point, TLouise... we should do more canoe camping in eastern NC. I know some great salt water destinations!

We could start with Lumber River SP.

Let me know if you come to the eastern part of the state. I have been looking at Lumber River for a long time, but just haven't tried it, yet. It's only 1-1/2 hours or so from me. Going to Goose Creek SP in a couple weeks.
