I think this is a great idea! I probably won't have time for it until late Summer/early Fall.
How about for now we all keep an eye out for messages here? If anyone comes up with a date and place they want to float on the Kaw, just post it in this sub-forum, and see who responds.
The sounds like a solid plan
My late summer/early fall is pretty wide open with exception of a 2-week trip to Colorado/Utah the first of October.
I know where there should be a long hiking trail within a couple hours of KC:Theoretical Loess Hills Hiking Trail map
That's a theoretical route that I put together for a hiking trail in the Loess Hills of western Iowa. The southern end would be about 2 hours from Kansas City. If there was sufficient interest in it, I feel like it could exist "soon", although it would be mostly roadwalks (primarily on rural dirt/gravel roads) used to connect existing parks together.
To be clear, this trail doesn't actually exist right now, although I think it would be possible to hike the majority of the route I outlined, if anyone really wanted to.
Woodridge is a great place for a quick overnight trip with the family! It’s also a good way to test gear and packs with the 4 mile loop. Will probably end up there for one night next week with the kids being on spring break.

How about "old military trail" along the east side of Perry lake? Actually that might not be the correct name, but i know there is a fairly long trail over there.
The Fam & I might be able to do a hang/hike/float thing this summer, fall usually turns into sports and hunting but ill keep my ears open...
I was curious about this myself and found the following entry: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Perry_Lake_Trail
“Camping is not allowed along the trail. However, there are campsites in two designated campgrounds along the trail. The Old Military Trail Campground and the Slough Creek and Longview Park areas provide adequate camping for the amount of hikers that trek annually.”

I know there is a campground that is rented out along that trail, we used to take our youth group there once a year.
