I've been lurking for a looong time on this forum, so I thought it about time I join the discussion. I found the forum while researching ways to lighten my load as I progress toward UL, and have been hooked ever since!
I still don't have a hammock, but am very interested in the WBBB, and have reminded the wife and kids my birthday is coming up...
I have three boys (7, 9, and 14) and am Assistant Scoutmaster (as well as Outdoor Coordinator and Webmaster) for my 14 year old's boy-led Scout Troop. I've always enjoyed the outdoors, hiking, fishing, etc. Growing up in Mid-Missouri not too far from the Ozarks, plenty of opportunity presented itself. If only I had thought of hanging between the trees back then!
I've worked in IT for many years now, and could be called a computer geek. However, I have discovered that there are many ways to be a geek, as I now have the UL gear reviewing, watching water boil, DIY making, hammock camping sickness. Somebody help!!!
Thanks,
Steve
P.S. My fondest memory of camping was when I was about 9, lying on a picnic table at a camp site at Pomme de Terre Lake on a crystal clear night, watching a meteor shower the intensity of which I have never since experienced. I always look for them now, and am usually the first to call out, "Meteor!"
