Where to find a BIG piece of cotton for an indoor hammock?

I want to make gathered-end cotton hammock for sleeping indoors. At least 12' long, and 6' wide.

Where can I find such a big piece of cotton?

Cotton can mean a lot of things. If you want canvass, try an art supply store. If you want anything else, regular fabric store.

A canvas drop cloth meant to protect floors while painting might work.

If nothing else, you can buy cotton muslin from quilt fabric suppliers. Sold as backing fabric, it comes in several widths, generally up to 120 inches. It is not the most sturdy of fabrics though, kind of like a thin sheet, so you'd need to make it a double layer. Also, probably best to sew before washing, but definitely wash after sewing. The end product will shrink a bit in the wash, but used as a hammock will stretch out.

I bought two 5 yard lengths of 90 inch wide for making an indoor hammock, but I haven't gotten around to it yet.

I know this is an old thread, but you can buy wide fabrics. I quilt and often buy 96", 108" and even 120" widths for my quilts. Search for wide fabrics and you'll find them. It's quilting cotton, not sure of the strength for hammocking.
