so Ryan, where do you go to hang in So. Illinois? I'm eyeing the River-to-River Trail in the Garden of the Gods for a hike this fall. I've not been to the Shawnee National Forest yet, it's a four hour drive for me.

    Grizz,

My parents own a cabin down in the Shawnee just outside of Alto Pass. I'll be spending the weekend there with my wife and daughter and my sister and her family as well. I too have been looking to do the R2R trail sometime in the not too distant future. I believe a fall hike would be absolutely gorgeous, both with the leaves turning, the few bugs, and the brisk nights. I'd love to do it thru. IF only I could get the time off to do it one shot.

If you haven't found out already, kids just love to climb into your hammock! Particularly through the bottom.

A full thru hike will have to wait for me also. But a long weekend on along a scenic bit, that's definitely in the cards.

have a great weekend (trying to get the small fry out of your Explorer)
