    Greetings from Norway

Hi all, just wanted to introduce myself, I'm a 35 year old norwegian interaction designer hooked on lightweight backpacking (can't call it UL just yet). I have a blog : goinglighter.blogspot.com which I started last month. I think it will turn out to be quite gear oriented since I've only written about gear and MYOG so far . The strong gear focus may be typical for the season we're in. I don't do any winter backpacking. I remember reading a wise comment in some forum saying something on the lines of "gear lust is an expression of longing to get out on the trail". I certainly find that is true because when I get out there I don't foucs much on the gear.

Regarding hammocks, I have an HH Expedition which I've tried for an overnighter and on some day trips, and I've ordered a Blackbird today. I think I'll give my HH to my brother who is getting into backpacking. I chose the Blackird because of the double layer for my exped downmat, the shelf and the suspension, plus the footbox.

Welcome to HF! I took a quick look at your blog and it looks like you are quite accomplished at MYOG. That G4 looks very nice!

Thanks for the warm welcome and for the feedback on my MYOG stuff. I find MYOG (and BYOG for that matter) very fun and rewarding. So far I've made a Ray-Way backpack, a Minima Vest from thru-hiker.com and some spinntex stuff sacks. Will do a thru-hiker liberty ridge pant next. I highly recommend trying some projects.

    Welcome Hf cousin!

I read your blog and loved watching your build of the backpack. The custom pockets and all look very well made. Hopefully, you'll show pictures of your vest and the building process too.

Welcome. I spent 6 weeks in Kongsberg north of Oslo last year for work. Great part of the world for hiking you live in. Got to see Oslo on National Day.
Is that too much to ask? Girls with frikkin' lasers on their heads?

a Whoooo Buddy Welcome to you gauperaa!
I have had the privilage of visiting your country and going through the fiords and seeing the never setting sun at the Horn. Spectacular country. Never got a chance to backpack there though. On my bucket list.

macentyre: I get that a question a lot , it's an IT profession, I kind of do what a traditional architect do, but in a computer/internet setting where we make websites and programs. I map out user and client needs, sketch prototypes, run user tests on them and work to implement them later. Very interesting work - the only downside is being stuck in front of a computer screen.

coffee: nice, hope you liked Kongsberg and the rest of your stay. I'm only in Kongsberg when I do my annual training with the "Heimevernet", which has I believe has a similar role as the us national guard. Great that you got to experience the celebration of "17.mai".

shug: cool, I hope you get visit Norway again. You should bring your hammock and do some hiking. Lots of nice places to hang
