7/64 Amsteel vs. Zing-It for Tarp Ridgeline

I'm planning to order some material to make a few whoopies, continuous loops, Structural ridge line, and ridge line and tie outs for my tarp. I was planning to use 7/64 Amsteel for for the whoopies, loops, and SRL, and 2.2 mm Zing-It for the tarp stuff. The trouble is, Zing-It is more expensive than the Amsteel at Dutchware. I'm not worried about weight or bulk, so I'm probably just going to do the whole works with the Amsteel. Is there some flaw in that plan?

    TIA,

    -DylanC

People do it for similar reasons, but it is just overkill for weights that the hammock will be supporting.

Don't overthink it, keep it simple. Get Amsteel for everything. The tarp doesn't care....

If you want to rig your tarp using the usual ti stuff from Dutch then you might want to stick with 1.75 zingit.

Feel free to use what you got, but This is what I use,

1.2mm Dyneema, 300lb break strength and only 10¢ per yard.

I've bought both sizes of Zing It, 7/64 Amsteel, the MicroCord, and the 1.75 Dyneema from Dutch. You'll want the Amsteel if you're making suspensions, but my favorite for ridgelines is the 1.75 Dyneema. It splices easier that Zing It and it will easily work with all of the Dutch bling. I use Zing It or MicroCord where I'm tying knots and the Dyneema & Amsteel where I want to splice.

I've used this for tarp tie outs myself accept in green. It has also worked for all the Dutch bling I've used it on, you just have to wrap it one or two more times. But it also Tangles a lot easier.
By all means, let's argue about whether or not a hammock will hurt a tree. All the while ignoring the fact that there is an island of garbage the size of Texas floating in the Pacific ocean. Or how about the fact that over 75% of the world's nuclear reactors are leaking...

Just remember that Amsteel doesn't play nice with knots, it tends to slip. You also can't use all the fancy dutchware bling.
