Hello fellow hangers,
Little bit about myself-
I started camping(on the ground and in a tent) in the Boy Scouts at the young age of 12. Loved every minute of it and camped in and out of Scout activities, basically any chance I got I was in the woods.
Then I did a bunch of non tent, non sleeping bag outings for Uncle Sam. Loved that as well, and my previous outdoor experiences made me a lot of friends. Learned to love the poncho liner!
I never stopped camping but once the kiddos arrived it involved a truck to haul stuff around. That really limits where you can go and how far you can get away from the noisy neighbors.
Fast forward a few years and now I'm the Scoutmaster and finally my son is old enough and strong enough for us to get into backpacking.
Then one day my friend got involved with Hammock camping. I thought "That's neat", but there's where I stopped.
Until he wanted to sell his ENO system in order to upgrade. I thought "That'll make my son so happy" so I bought it for him as a present.
Then I thought to myself, I don't know anything about hammocks, and he's going to ask alot of questions, so I found myself here.
Thank you all for the valuable information, It sure made helping my son get started and setup easy.
And to finish this story I couldn't resist and had to get one for myself. I have started off with a HH explorer and really enjoy it, but I see a chameleon in my future.
We've now been backpacking several times(with scouts and with friends) and it is great to get back out and away!!
Happy hanging,
Badweissenbier
