Unhappy Hammock Construction - fabric piecing

I ordered 4 yards of fabric for my new hammock and then made the mistake of cutting a yard off (for some reason I had thought I ordered 5 yards). If I do a flat felled seam and double-stich it, would that be strong enough to re-attach the yard of fabric I cut off?

Is it worth trying piece or do I just need to order more fabric?

I wouldn't bother sewing the yard back on - it will be weak with that extra sewn on the horizontal. You made a boo-boo - I would suggest you just start over again. Order more fabric.

I wouldn’t sew it back on either.

    Sorry.
    I sew things on youtube.
I don’t sew on commission, so please don’t ask. Thanks.

Make the short hammock and give it to a short relative.

Use the fabric for making a quilt, quilt protector, gear sling, ditty bags etc. it's not wasted.

Thanks, guys! That's what I figured, but was hoping against hope. Here's to a better second round.

Use the 3 yds to make a bridge. Use the cut off part for the end caps etc.

Tent peg bags, storage bags, ridgeline organizers, triangles for the top of your hammock where the zipper goes or UQ triangles, pole bags, a gear sling for underneath...

I wouldn't seam it, but certainly NOT wasted!
