I have bottom entry on both of mine but I am physically challenged so the bottom entry works well for me.

I have bottom entry on two of my Hennessys. I prefer it due to the simplicity (no zipper to jam) as well as the limited amount of exposure to bugs. If you unzip, crawl in and re-zip, you might capture some critters in there with you. The bottom entry minimizes the potential entry points for mosquitos.

I've had an explorer deluxe with bottom entry for over six years. It's an interesting feature. Earlier this year I sent it off for a 2QZQ zipper mod, but kept the slit. I love having the zipper now, but depending on the conditions, I'll still use the bottom entry. (Really buggy, funky hangs, really low and tightly pitched tarp for storms)
I just ordered an explorer ultralight from the odds and ends sale, and plan on doing the exact same thing.

The world would be a lot less grumpy if we all slept in hammocks.
My experience with my bottom entry Expedition mirrors what Kevok says. I like the bottom entry in warm weather when I'm not dealing with a lot of insulation. In winter conditions I prefer to use my 2QZQ mod and zip the net out of the way. Now that I have the modification, I like having the option to use the bottom entry. It's probably not really necessary and I could certainly live without it, but it is a nice gee whiz conversation starter if nothing else.
Cheers.

I never had any issues with the bottom entry. Just open it up, sit down and lay back. Done. But as sidney and Kevok, I’ll be getting a 2QZQ zipper mod for two reasons: 1) easier to deal with insulation in cooler temps and 2) more usable in lounge/chair mode when you can fold the mesh back. But I’m keeping the bottom entry for buggy conditions; it’s never let a single one in.
Takes some getting use to but I got use to mine after a while. Prefer the conventional method though.
I had one and sent it to 2QZQ and had the slit sewn shut. I never looked back.

I was intrigued by the hennessy bottom entry hammock, however, I use a CPAP machine. This means, that at sites with electricity, i need to run an extension cord through my bugnet, thus necessitating a zipper on the side. I also prefer modularity and being able to remove components for when said components aren't needed to save on pack weight. For car camping, though, weight doesn't matter. As it stands my current rig is a pound heavier than I'd like for backpacking purposes.
I had a Hennessy Expedition Deluxe Asym bottom entry. I hated it and sold it. The bottom entry was awkward getting in and out of and I was always having stuff drop through the entry in the process. Back then, I was using a sleeping pad and a sleeping bag and it was an issue pushing that stuff and other things aside to get in and then re-adjusting everything once you were in....you had to hope and pray that you didn't have to get up to pee during the night (which I mostly did!).
