This is so true. When I first started using hammocks the salesman where I purchased my ENO had no idea what I needed in a camping hammock. My first trip using a hammock I camped near Gooch Gap on the AT in Georgia. No UQ and a light sleeping bag. If it had not been for a FrogToggs poncho and my bug net I would have frozen. BTY, most salesmen and salesladies still have no idea of the need of an UQ or TQ.

I'm a year round guy too. I also like that it keeps my TQ any pillow and things contained inside my hammock.

Bug nets, how late in the year do you use them

Use the bug net year round as well. Block bugs in summer, retains heat in the winter.

I left mine off when I went out the first weekend of September, and haven't used it since. I still bring it in case the bugs are out in force, I just haven't needed it yet. I'm hoping to be done with it for the season.

This time of year the bug net is also an acorn deflector. Keeps me from losing an eye or swallowing one whole in the middle of the night.

Mosquitoes are lethargic at 60 and downright immobile at 50 * F. So basically I use the bugnet three months out of the year and the rest of the time it's cold enough to make mosquitoes a non-issue.

Under 60 is a good call. I don't worry about mine once the temps are down in the 40's to 50's. First off, as posted previously, the bugs slow down under 60, and tree climbing snakes are less active too. Yes, that's a thing.

I have used mine on my Blackbird year round. It isn't worth the hassle of removing something that has insignificant weight and I like the idea that the occasional winter bug is going to find the only thing exposed in the hammock...my face. When the Chameleon becomes available again I am going to try out the winter cover.

I use mine year round for bugs in summer, and in the colder weather it keeps some heat in. I also find things don't slide out of the hammock when my net is closed.
