Pan and Smee it is so generous to donate to so many hangs every year. You contibute more to the community then anyone I can think of and not just in donations.

I will be donating 2 sets of Dutch clips again, although you all should have them by now. Since I won't be doing pancakes I will be sure to bring something extra special for dinner.
    Peace Dutch

There are often questions about how far from the parking lot to the hang site. RockRat and JD were fooling around with map and GPS and say . . . "Total distance from p-lot to hang is just under half a mile; which includes the 757 foot elevation gain." The hike is mostly flat on a wide path with some rocks and limbs down until right before the AT shere you turn left and hike up the hill.

From Friday afternoon and into the evening most people arrive, hike in and setup. So that's the unofficial meet and greet time.

At the last hang we had some mini seminars on Saturday afternoon. I thought this time if people are interested we could assembly at the hang site at 9 or 10 am Sat morning and do an "Open House" tour of people's hammock setups. This always happens anyway, but some people miss out. Then people would have late morning and the afternoon to go hiking or run over to Harper's Ferry or do other things.

Saturday evening around 5 or 6 is the pot luck and JRB raffle at the pavillion. Sunday morning most are packing up and heading home.

If there are other suggestions for something special to do on Saturday that is hammock related I'm all ears. I'm just throwing the Open House out there as something to do. If anyone wants to do a mini-seminar or anything else, you can post it here or PM. I just didn't want to tie up the free time of people who have instructed in the past because I know they may want to do something different.

Something else that might be fun to do at the Sat dinner while the charcoal is heating up is everyone bring their favorite packs to the pavillion tables. Molly Mack pack, ULAs, Dixon Roller packs, Aarn, Deuter, DIY packs, etc. I know everyone is always interested and even if we have multiples of ULA or something else, it's nice to be able to try on the different sizes to see what is a good fit. Let me know your thoughts.

A food thread will be posted so we can get an idea of what people are bringing to the pot luck. The hang is less than a month away! I'm excited!

Thing1 wants to come with me to MAHHA... it will all depend upon when I have to take IronK to visit Georgia Tech, where he has been accepted for next fall!

Congrats to IronK on getting into Georga Tech...thats exciting great school too....as for HappyCampers Ideah on bringing packs to the pavillion I really LIke that Idaeah. Ive been wanting to checkc out the ULA packs and try a couple on so that sounds exciting to. SOmething Id be interested in going to a seminar would simply be tricks/tips do's and dont's for long distance hikeing. I am takeing my first solo trip next weekend and am always seeking out new knowledge and interested in learning about new gear. And Jacks, I will certainly be purchasing numerious raffel tickets in hope of winning a quilt.

I'll have to see if I can get some stuff to donate. I have been saving my pennies for the raffle.

Can anyone bring a grill to the hang? Cooking on the fireplace is a major pain.

I have paper plates, plastic utensils, Ketchup and Mustard...and, I'll also bring the burgers.

Redtail should be posting a survey soon.

Thanks Iafte for raffle donations. I have some little stuff to add to the raffle pile as well. JD said he's bring charcoal and lighter fluid.
