Warbonnet's spinnUL Tarp with removable doors

What choices we have as hammockers! If any have followed my thoughts on gear they you know I love WB products...always brilliant in design....Brandon's spinn tarp is no differnent.

    http://www.hammockforums.net/gallery...php?i=8432&c=7

I have been comparing/contrasting several tarps, their setup, ease of use, features.
First material- I've used the MLD Cuben HEX, several McCatts in syl and one in spinn, and now the Warbonnet in spinn. IF I am choosing a tarp just on material it would be in spinnUL.
Size/coverage- I like a large tarp, love the real estate underneath, and now with pole mods that real estate is even more. For me the spinn choices are either McCat or WB--any others doing tarps in spinn?

So much is written about tarps I won't go into a treatise here...only a summation of what I'd do if I were buying to day and why...
IF I already had a tarp and wanted greater 4 season performance I'd buy the TZ/ZQ GrizBeaks.
IF I was buying a tarp for the first time and wanted 4 season performance at this time I'd have to go with the Warbonnet in spinnUL with the removable doors. It's light enough without them for even the most fervent gram weenie, even with the doors it's lighter than what most have carried for years.
Warbonnet door use/compared to GrizBeaks---sammie same, little different setup but took me no longer or shoter for either. With the Warbonnet doors you CAN leave them attached to the Tarp if you want to saving some steps later. Tight pitch? Yes and note the WB doors are syl and don't flap noisily.
Obviously if you have more than one tarp the WB doors won't work easily with a tarp other than a WB tarp.
Of special consideration. The pole mod WILL spread throughout the hammock tarp world-my prediction. Warbonnet already offers this mod when you order the tarp....not offering a pole but the pole pockets and the inside center ridgeline pole holder is an option when you order.

thanks for the review MM. i need to get more pics of the spin UL on the website. hopefully i'll get a chance to do that soon. that's a good pic for showing how close the color of the sil doors match the color of the spin tarp. it's pretty close.

    Couple questions for Brandon.
Do you need to order the optional doors with the tarp or are the doorless tarps ready to retrofit doors to?
Are additional tie outs like those on the SuperFly an available option?

i'd say the color match was more than close...maybe it's just my old eyes but I can't tell any difference...what I'd want to notice in the pic was how tight you can get the doors and I wasn't really trying, e.g. I didn't spend much time dialing it in.
I will admit at first I'd forgotten the clip just inside the tarp to attach one corner of the door too! The tensioning system up to the ridgeline is just another mark of Brandon's design genius.

the tarps are all "door-ready", so you can buy tarp now and doors later.

for the most part the doors will fit the older version of the tarps too. you'll notice the rings in the middle of the ridgeline for when doors are only on one end. i've actually just recently aquired shockcord that is alot stretchier, allowing the shockcord to reach all the way to the other rl ring to attach there, making the rings in the middle of the rl un necessary, the newest models will have no rings mid rl, and the stretchier sc instead. so if you have an older tarp with no rings mid-ridgeline, then the doors should still work with those tarps too
