I was wondering what kind of hardware or knot would work if I were to lark my kevlar (3.3g) straps straight onto the continuous loop of my hammock? The adjustments would be made at the tree end of the strap in this case, but how is this accomplished? The idea is that the straps would stay on the hammock.
Is it even a good idea to lark kevlar at the sewn end loops? Will it stress the stitching too much?

The Amsteel is 20-inches from the carabiner

Here is how the Amsteel buried loops attach to the carabiner, and the flat side of the carabiner has a threaded locking gate, so no worries about meeting the sharp rocks below. The carabiner is climbing rated and the bend radius is within specs for Amsteel

This is a close up of how you can wrap your strap around the tree, and slide the end into the flat Tri-Slide to secure and prevent slippage. Once set, it will not slip. The Tri-slide is inserted to the end of your strap, slide it down until there is enough strap to go around whatever tree you decide to hang from. Insert the tag end of your strap into the Tri-slide, then adjust the tag end of your strap until the desired "snugness" is obtained around the tree. Simple and foolproof, the slides themselves are made of aluminum and the flat slides "grip" the strap very well and will not loosen up. Works for me.

One last note, do not place the slide in line with the hammock ridge line, place the slides at 90-degrees to the side of the tree, either left or right (depending on which side the straps first circumnavigate the circumference of the tree trunk. Viewed from an aerial point directly above the tree trunk, your hammock is at 180-degrees and the Tri-slides are at 90-degrees or 270-degrees, if you catch my drift.

Very interesting! Cool straps, those are poly straps, right? Would that work with kevlar 3.3g straps? They are thinner and slicker than poly. Cool carabiner too! Where'd you get that? And that spreader bar you have in the sewn channel of the hammock, also very interesting. I was thinking about doing something like that too. Is that a GOLD hammock? I'd love to see a picture of that hammock in action. Thanks for the reply!

I would honestly not do it that way
I'd rather be able to pull the straps OFF the hammock when they're wet
imo, becket's hitch, or j-bend to the strap to the continuous loop
retain ability to detach easily, and adjust very easily
Yeah, I’m just brainstorming here. But they say kevlar doesn’t absorb water. You think it would still be an issue?

garbage bags don't absorb water either, and I wouldn't stick a wet one in my top quilt

My Kevlar 3.3 straps sure seemed wet after last trip, when they were subjected to an all-night rain...They also tend to get dirty -- wouldn't want them snuggled up to my clean hammock.
I use Butt In A Sling Strap Anchors and they work great. Have also learned the J-Bend in case I ever need to go hardware-free.

Okay, so apparently the consensus seems to be that triglides work with kevlar. I had thought since Dutch said they don’t work with buckles, that triglides would also not work. Good to know!
