    Figure 9 maximum weight?

Checking out the website of the manufacturer they show the large size as having a weight limit of 150 lbs.

I weigh 155 lbs but since the weight is divided somewhat equally between two I imagine it is okay.

Is this the one you are using and if so has anyone had a failure?

I don't think anyone is hanging on nines...they're being used for tarps.

What will you be using it for?

If you're talking hammock suspension - absolutely NOT! Depending on your suspension angle from hammock to tree there is a very significant % increase in forces on said suspension. Upwards of 2-10X (and more). You want a significantly higher rating than your actual weight.

I forget who did this diagram, but it's sure helpful here with understanding suspension forces exerted.

The hammock suspension lines would only divide your weight if they went straight up. At the typical 30deg from horizontal each carries your full weight. Pull the suspension tighter and the numbers climb.

The BIG figure 9 is rated at 300lbs, if you are interested.

Ahhh, thanks guys. My physics and geometry classes are way behind me. Looks like the large is the way to go but there are lighter options that I will explore first.

    Cheers,

the short answer is yes, the 150# fig nines have been hung from, they're usually gonna be stronger than their rating says. i think dutch lifted over 900# with one before the rope started to give out. i hung from one of the small metal ones to see what would happen, took all of my weight to bend/break it.

here's the old forgotten thread from a couple years ago, people started making all kinds of interesting metal adjusters. lots of good ideas in there...

I don't remember where I saw it but someone used them once and said that they would bend slightly overnight but they did hold.

As WBG said I picked up 900+ pounds with the large. There are better options though and the teeth are hard on your rope.
