    Ironing Ripstop?

I just got some 1.9 ripstop nylon from Ed Speer and wanted to know if it can be ironed, and at what heat setting?

I'm new to DIY projects and was thinking that ironing may help me run a straighter stitch.

I iron ripstop all the time. My iron has a nylon setting which is 2 out of 9. I sometimes risk it and use the polyester setting which is 3 out of 9.
    Peace Dutch

Thanks Dutch. I just took a look at my iron and it also has a nylon setting of 2.

I'm starting to tackle Headchange4U's HH clone and I hope that ironing will help. Thanks again.

It will make a huge difference as you begin to do the rolled hems. Ironing was a really big help as I began sewing my tarp.

I made an HH clone according to the same directions with the same 1.9oz ripstop from Ed. I ironed every seam on low heat and it made a huge difference in the final outcome (compared to the hammocks I made without ironing). I even ironed before doing the zipper stitch line on the right side, but the biggest improvement was the flat-felled seam for the bugnet. Nice clean and consistent seams. It almost looks professional, at least to the untrained eye (ricegravy). Saves time with the seam ripper, too.
