Do you feel superior in any kind of way over those who grovel on the ground?

I love my hammock, and I have a fun time using it.... but I sure ain't superior to anyone. I've got friends that prefer tents who are WAY more hardcore and wilderness savvy than I'll ever be. These are some good guys, very good friends of mine, and it'd be downright crappy of me to look down on them because they're in tents, know what I mean?
That's just my perspective... "HYOH" is a very popular mantra here, and I truly believe in that concept.

But that said, MY back thanks me for my choice of shelter every morning I wake up in the hammock...

I have bad back problems, and tend to throw it out, recently, a lot! Once I do, it's more than a week before I'm back in commission.......UNLESS my hammock is up in the living room, then bless my soul, it is almost just a one night's sleep before I feel almost normal! Now, if I sleep in the bed, I've had a bad night. I've joined the ranks of Doctari and Cannibal!

I feel like I should be proselytizing to the local chiropractors! I feel enlightened, and sad that such a debilitating condition might, with my type of problems, be a simple solution for others. Superior? No, but I wish others would open their minds to unorthodox ideas, and discover something actually can work!

i was just talking this week about building a stand i the basement so i can sleep in my hammock to releave some of the pain in my back
a doctor told me it was a good idea also..being that the curve of the hammock makes you bend forward a bit decompressing your spine

Another thing I've noticed....esp. me at the New Years 'Party' on Springer....hammockers tend to hang with hammockers. I immediately went toward the hammocks that were already strung to set up----until Pokey's dog came out from under her hammock.
We segregate ourselves away from the ground dwellers, even if there are trees suitable and room available. A caste system?

.... If i showed up at a group hand with a sheet for a hammock, a 9$ utility tarp, 2 wool army blankets to lay on and 2 on me, and a vietnam era alice pack you would all be accept me the same as a 10 yr hanging veteran and offer any suggestions or help you could.
