Thanks for the kind words guys!
As far as what else I used.
My UQ is made out of a $25 sleeping bag cut in half, so per say, I'm only using half a 45 deg sleeping bag.
I also used a truck windshield sun block as a pad, which covered me from neck to calves.
Clothing was just wool socks, cargo shorts, T shirt, and a fleece jacket.
I'm really confident with this quilt for 3 season camping, now all I need is to make a UQ with the Yeti dimensions, and I should be good to go.

You actually did see it at the Uwharrie hang, If you look in your pictures, I'm sure you'll find it.

Thanks... that's really impressive. I use a truck windshield sun block fairly often myself for real cold weather. Thanks for posting your experience and your DIY quilt.

Im impressed how small it packed down to considering the fleece. What kind of fleece is it? I know they have windblock fleece, but not sure if thats something you can purchase anywhere, same with the 100 and 200 wt. fleece. I have some motorcycle specific fleece garments and they work very well and thought that kind of material would be good.

Sclittlefield is selling green ripstop 2nds at $2.50/yd... The stuff he sent me doesn't look like seconds...

Check the Fabrics forum, lots of Walmart fabric info.

I just wish I hadn't waited on the first IX group buy...

I'll be putting together another sale very soon on 1.1oz Woodland Camo Ripstop Nylon FIRSTS for $2.75/yd.

There's a thread on it here. Toss in a post if you have interest in some - it'll help me know how much to order.

    Wow!
Thank you for approving my project.
I thought I was the only one that was impressed with the results I got.
As far as the material, I purchased all from a local Hancock Fabrics.
My fleece is the regular $3.50 a yard stuff that they have sometimes even cheaper due to color.
I really think that by making a UQ with Ripstop, 3 layers of IX, and maybe fleece, I should be good. My plans are to make it 48" x 42", hopefully it will pack nice and small, and weigh next to nothing.
My quilt is very light weight, even though it looks heavy. I was very impressed with the results, I just hope it works just as well with my UQ.

This may be my first diy project...did you use an existing pattern, or is it just a simple tapered polygon sewn shut on the narrow end?
