I Have just ordered my deep jungle asym zip XL, I have whoopie slings on all my gathered end hammocks and wanted to know if there were any down sides to replacing the factory suspension with whoopie slings?

Weight goes down. So does complexity.

I changed mine out to straps and Cinch buckle.
The Whoopies would be even lighter, but straps and buckles are so much easier to use and lighter than the HH supplied ropes.
I'm pretty sure it will void your warranty, if that's important to you. (It wasn't to me..)
I swapped my HH to CLs. Only downside I know of with whoopies is your minimum length between trees will be longer

I put whoopies on my expedition. Only downside is that the stock asym tarp can't easily be attached to the suspension anymore. The prussicks won't hold on the amsteel. Not a deal killer, especially if you're already putting the tarp on a separate suspension. May not be an issue with your deep jungle.
Cheers.

I’m almost certain there’s a video somewhere of Tom Hennessy himself showing how to replace the supplied cordage with Whoopies. But I can’t find it now.

It isn’t Hennessy, it’s here: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=PyUgwyJd6IE

swapped out the stock suspension on a used HH i bought for short dogbones made from 36" of 7/16" Amsteel Blue and a stainless steel sailboat rigging ring to attach Whoopies to
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/G1...Q=w640-h478-no
once uncovered I simply replicated the stock looping/knot w/ the dogbone
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/Ek...w=w478-h640-no
being carefull to duplicate the factory knot holding the stock ridgeline
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/TR...A=w640-h478-no
the result allows me to scrunch up the snake skins for keeping
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/4-...Q=w640-h478-no
using the stainless steel rigging rings allows me to attach the Whoopies and easily remove them when they get wet so they don't end up wetting the hammock in the bag...
put similar dogbones on the fly
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/ie...g=w478-h640-no
which keeps the snake skins on the fly handy as well
the added ease of set up and the ability to separate wet rigging components in addition to the weight reduction are all plusses

I swapped the stock straps out for whoopies, and I made the whoopies myself so I attached the fixed loop ends to the hammock before making the adjustable loop so I could have minimum distance between the hammock end and the start of the bury. I still found the minimum hanging distance to be more than I wanted. I took them off and replaced with continuous loops.
