    Foot Pad/ Butt Pad/Temp Improvement?

What's the skinny on a good pad for both sitting on and to supplement a top quilt under the feet? How about this one?:
    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...6e145170c8ea82

And how much warmer do they keep your feet? For example, if you have a top quilt with a foot box that takes you down to 40f, how low could you go with a foot pad?

And how is the best way to put it in your pack to increase padding there?

(I'm also going to use it as a wind screen so I won't have to bring the one I have)

    Thanks in advance!

The Thermarest Z Seat is good. Dutch Sit Pad is also good, lower cost and stays better in the foot box but not as thick for sitting on or as versatile. I put the Z Seat in the foot box with mainly my Heels pushing down on the Pad. Not sure how much insulation it provides over the quit foot box. Not sure it really matters if over 30*.

I prefer an inflatable sit pad for in the TQ, the accordion ones do just that in the foot box. A lightly inflated pad stays in place better and doesn't fold up on ya. The pad only covers where a 3/4 UQ doesn't, it won't add to the eating of the TQ. Paired with an appropriately rated quilt set most are fine to the quilts' rating.

A piece of Reflectix, anywhere from 12"×12" to 18"x18", works as a great sit pad, a windscreen, and a cold-spot barrier. And it folds up to fit in your pack. Can't tell you temp specifics but works pretty good into the 30's F.

I've used my Gossamer Gear Thinlight pad as one of my 'go to' multi-use items on the trail for years and use it for a sit pad, backpack pad, hammock pad, ground pad, etc., but I've never used it in the foot box of my sleeping bag/quilt in the hammock. It's only 1/8" thick, <3oz. and very flexible. Will have to try that on my next cold weather outing.

I'm the same Obdew but I've used it in my footbox and it's a game changer and makes a Phoenix all you Need. Stuck with GG because of that and the flip top.

I used the Zseat for the whole AT. The silver side does get quite warm. Often my feet got too toasty and I’d switched it to the yellow (or brown) side.

I liked the thermarest more than the others because, as someone said, it’s thicker and the padding was important to me and my butt. I almost got an inflatable version but I liked folding the pad and tossing it on top of my pack. Plus it’s light and cheap. It also makes for an impromptu wind screen while cooking.

You should still wear a good pair of sleep socks.

I brought my GG pad out of retirement to use as insulation for my camp chair last weekend, and it was glorious! Will be a must-bring item on all my cold weather hangs now.
