    Snoring Bear

Haven't seen any threads on this, but noticed when browsing the AHE website he's making pillows. Anyone have/use one? They caught my attention because they seem pretty solid and firm. I currently use a thermarest pillow, but am less than pleased with it. At the end of the day all it really does is offer insulation as I lay my head on it and it compresses down almost flat.

How's the AHE pillows hold up? Anyone have both Therm-a-rest and AHE Snoring Bear?

How heavy would one with 10x's the insulation be?

    Original Thread

Here is the Original Thread when I started the pillows. There is a video linked that I did about them --it has an old email address for orders at the end. But a few of my customers made comments about them. It was just before either of you joined but the Pillows is how Arrowhead got started back in the day---August, oh how long ago it seams. I have several versions now, the original rolled Climashield insulation and the Loose stuff with salvaged scraps from making quilts. The rolled is quite a bit firmer feel and the loose stuff is softer, and a savings(less $$$'s as we use what would other wise be going to the land fill. So good for everyone and keeps good climashield from going to waste. And I have 3 sizes from the small cub-neck pillow to one that will almost rival a home pillow size.

I am still sleeping on the original one I made in early August.

I have Paul's large and small pillow. The large one is perfect for me.
It packs up into a tiny stuff sack and weighs 7 oz. on my scale.
The two most important things to me while camping...good food, good sleep.

If I leave home without it, I'm going back.

I also have one of Pauls loose stuff cub pillows. I use it under my neck, it's the perfect size for a hammock. And the cord that attaches to the ridgeline to keep it from slipping underneath you is sheer genius!

Now I'm facing a dilemma. I like the things I'm hearing about the firmness/thickness of the Snoring Bear (or whatever the size L is), but I love the idea of using the scraps for the pillow that would otherwise be in the landfill.

My quest for comfort is at direct odds in my quest to lessening footprints. Any chance you have or would make an over stuffed version of the scrap pillow? Cost isn't an issue, but I'd want it thick/firm.

    Thanks!

I really pack in the loose stuff insulation, and I mean pack it in. I bring them up to about the same weight as the rolled but it just dose not get quite as firm. Trust me we don't throw any out, it just piles up and goes out as we can with the loose stuff items. No waste wether you by one or the next guy

Now if only I'd bought one before I leave for Africa on Thursday. Where do you ship from and how soon could you get one out to me?
