Just an update. After setting up a large table for sewing, and hanging the dreaded Eno JungleRest in my yard, I decided it would be pointless to muck around it with it. Instead I'm going to make a new project, complicating it with what I hope will be a lightweight partial stretcher at each end. I won't burn the Eno, but I think it should go to someone 5' tall or less.
I do think my bug net idea would work, but thinking about it, I'm of a mind that the DIY bugnet in wide use, with a shock cord bottom is probably a much better solution than attaching one directly to the hammock. I'll keep updating with drawings, and photos because....it's such a fun way to procrastinate.
re: 'Failed prototypes' Jony Ive, the guy who designed the Apple bubble gum computer and the iPhone, even as a student would make prototype after prototype.... Absolutely the path to success. I think successful inventions are never perfect, they can always be improved.

Thanks! It is an easy project once you get the concept down.

I have several quilts that I am planning to complete this winter. The first is a 20* set for my son, a 0* set and a 40* set for my self. I have the 20* set sewn and the undequilt is complete except for the draft collars. I should be able to get the 20* top quilt in the next week.

I am hoping that I can get the 0* under quilt completed before the Michigan hang in early February. I have a good -40* sleeping bag that I have used as a top quilt so I don’t have to get the top quilt completed by then.

The 40* set is sewn and ready to be stuffed which will probably be the last ones completed since I won’t need them until summer. I do have a winter tarp kit in my box of stuff that needs to be completed one of these days to.

I made this skirt a few days ago from a Costco down throw. Hope to make a down vest this week.

Hey folks! Everyone uses some form of snake skin or sleeve for tarps. I made a tarp sleeve out of news paper plastic bags. I used duct tape to hold them together. It worked! Not sure how many miles you or I would get out of it. The weight was around 2.5 oz for 11 foot sleeve! Not bad and when it goes bad I have more news paper bags stored to use Would I use it a on long trip, no! I use Cuben sleeves from HG.

One more project completed! I made three food bags (14” x 27”), one for each of my sons and one for my grandson. I used the 1.1 silpoly, plastic buckles, D rings & 3/4” webbing from Rip Stop by the Roll. The green line is 1.7mm Dyneema arborist line that I got on EBay. Each food bag, including rock sack & 50 feet of line came in at 2.9 ounces.

Current winter project is an outdoor ink backpack. Custom pattern and all custom colors of HD300. Haven't decided what kind of pockets I want to add, but it is coming along nicely.
