    dutch clip question

I have a question for you guys, with the dutch clips, are they used to just hook the strap to the tree, or is there also a way to adjust your hang/tension ? When using speer straps, what else would you need besides straps and dutch clips for a complete suspension system? Also, what are they made out of?
FYI: If you want to know what type a certain bear is, sneak up behind it and kick it. Then,
run like crazy and climb up a tree. If the bear climbs the tree and eats you, it's a black
bear. If the bear just pushes the tree over and eats you, it's a grizzly bear : )

Do not walk behind me, for I may not lead. Do not walk ahead of me, for I may not follow. Do not walk beside me, either, just leave me alone.

The DC just clips the webbing around the tree. You would need something like ring buckles or cinch buckles for adjustments.

I would like to use some tree huggers for my tarp setup. I'm thinking some gros grain would be light and useful for this purpose. Is there any thoughts to making the Dutch Clip in different sizes to accommodate different strap sizes. I have 1" , 1.5", and also 2" straps, and the grosgrain would be .5" maybe. Just some thoughts.

I really like the lightweight simple design.

I think DCs would be overkill on a tarp and I would just use a biner. The mini wire gate type would work well for .5". I have thought about making a 1.5" DC but I would think the market would be very limited for it. I'm not even sure they make a 1.5" cinch buckle, but they may. I know Fin had some sort of crazy plastic 2" plastic buckle on his BMB but there is only on Fin around here. I aslo tend to think that If the DC got bigger then is isn't a weight savings over a nano biner.

Or, if K.I.S.S. is your bag, small SS "S" hooks would accomplish the same thing, and weigh next to nothing.

Remember, though, that once you really crank down on a tarp ridgeline, getting it loose again can be challenging. For this reason, you should consider a nice, smooth toggle on one end, so you can just "pull the pin."
