    My First Homemade Silnylon Tarp

Hey guys just thought I would let yall take a look at my first DIY tarp

I only had pieces left so I went with a two tone look. The gray cloth is 1.9 Wal mart ripstop and the green is most likely less tan 1 oz ripstop nylon. I have 16 tie out on it and I coated it with a DIY sil mineralspirits @ 1:4 ratio. The weight before the silcoating was 14 oz and I put 4 oz of sil in my mixture. The size is 10feet X 9feet.

I am waiting on the rain tonight and tomorrow o see if I have any leaks I got my fingers crossed. If things work out I will be taking it on my thru hike this March first.

    Just thought I would share.

Looks great. It looks like that took a bit of sewing! Let us know how the coating works.

Good job scruffy! I will be waiting to hear about the testing results. I am just hoping the rain won't turn into snow again when it comes through. I am tired of the snow.

Excellent tarp! I'm really liking the two-tone color scheme!

I just folded the seam to where the gray was over laping the green Kinda like shingles. Since I coated the whole tarp after I sewed it I am hoping the coating took care of the seam leaking, but if the seam leaks I will just put on some more sealer. I am not really too worried about the seam if I use the tarp with my homemade hammock because the seam is below the hammock. I am still keeping my fingers crossed
