Since my original post, I've gotten another 10 nights or so out in my Voyageur (along with the prototype SLD Cabin ie. Hot Tent) and it's everything I've always wanted in a winter hammock.
This is excellent to hear! Having an 11-foot hammock with only an 11-foot tarp I was not happy with the level of coverage on the ends when it rained very heavily. Switching to a 10-foot hammock should help get a much better coverage for me. I do not believe I'm going to go with the beaks but I am definitely going to be getting a trail Lair with removable cover and quite possibly that fancy Peak shelf!

I am a big fan of Jared's work too.

While I understand the convenience provided by the peak shelves, I do not understand the use of these beaks, can you enlighten me ? Are they a protection from the rain or snow ?

It's basically just a cover for the storage area, but I suppose they could help block wind or weather. Also, they do help in keeping the outer edges of the hammock from flopping out. Plus, I think they look cool too!

I've used the 11' Voyageur with my 11' HG cuben taro with doors and ended up with about 6 inches of extra coverage on each end.

Update: I've probably got 40 nights at least in the Voyageur, as of March 2019. It's still my go to winter hammock and I really can't find anything that I'd change!

I thought the beaks were meant to help reduce calf ridge. Is that right or wrong?

I've never really had an issue with calf ridge in any of my hammocks. But, the beaks do pull up the sides a bit to help mimic the effect of a full zip bugnet. They also provide a cover for the peak storage.

Curiosity got me again! I have a bunch of ideas I wanted to test out. So it’s going to be a Voyageur with all the dimensions of a WB Traveler to optimize the fit for my Wooki UQ. It will have an adjustable UCR ridgeline with a median length of 112”. Body length will be 128”. No whipped ends tough.

It’s going to have full length knotty mods and one peak shelf.

Everything, body, hoods, and shelf will be made from RSBTR’s new Monolite fabric in the Dark Olive color.

This will answer a bunch of questions I have all at once. Now comes the anticipation…
