Tree-O Hammock Frame... where to get one?

    Hi folks,

I've been thoroughly enjoying Derek Hansen's "The Ultimate Hang 2" and am curious about a suspension design I found on page 207. It's called the Tree-O Hammock Frame, and consists of three webbing daisy chains connected by a central ring. I'm interested in buying one but I've googled it and all I get is the kickstarter campaign page which apparently ended two years ago or so. There's no "add to cart" button. Does anyone here by any chance know how I could get a hold of the Tree-O?

    Thanks so much everybody!

You might want to email [email protected] and ask as I believe it's the same company.

Hello Ricktreks. Just came across the Tree-O frame post. Did you a) ever contact them and b) if you did - where can WE get one of these?

    Hi TooTall,

Sorry, I've been in the bush all this time. To answer your question, I did contact the company and they came back to me months later saying that they discontinued production of the Tree-O frame, although they had two leftover. They were selling them at US$ 125.00 + shipping, each.

If they had replied more promptly I would've bought both of them, but by the time I got their email with the help of a friend, I had already figured out a way to make my own contraption, which is much lighter, and can be assembled and disassembled as I wish. You know those daisy-chain type hammock suspensions sold by some companies? (like Kammok's Atlas straps, but there are tons of them out there). Well, I just thread the loop ends on each other and am able to make a "tree-O" or "4-O" depending on what I need.

Just PM me and I'll send you pictures from my phone.

    Hope that helps!

I'd be interested in the pics too. I wonder if a REALLY easy way to do this would be to just use Dutch's woven webbing: https://dutchwaregear.com/product/wo...chain-webbing/

    Think that would work?

Yeah, the Dutchware woven straps would work even better I would imagine!

I'll post the photos here in a minute.

I found it a bit cumbersome to upload the pics directly on the forum, so I've made an album on Google Photos.

    Check it out here... https://photos.app.goo.gl/a9Bqn3L9XGAAWMWK6

I find this system to be much better than the Tree-O straps, mostly because I'm saving the expense and weight of a steel ring, not to mention the hassle of attaching the straps to the said ring. Also I can customize the this rig depending on how many hammocks I need to hang, and because there are no knots, as soon as the tension is relieved, the straps are very easy separate, and undo the contraption.

    Hope that helps,
    R

Cool. How are you attaching to the trees? Seems like threading the webbing thru itself wouldn’t work if the middle were already set...?

Short answer: We use lightweight carabiners.

Elaborate answer: Every setup is different. Trees are not equidistant. The position, height, and girth of the trees dictates how we pitch the tarp. In turn, the tarp configuration dictates where the hammocks will be and therefore how we rig the 3some/4some webbing frame. So we always have a few spare webbing segments, amsteel dogbones, continuous loops, and biners.
